Privacy and control

Your civic interests should remain yours.

Civixly limits the personal information it keeps, gives signed-in users a direct data download, and provides a permanent account-deletion control.

Your account controls

From Settings, you can download a JSON copy of the personal account data Civixly currently associates with you.

You can also permanently delete the account after confirming your current password. This removes the authentication account and its linked profile, district and seat assignments, follows, ratings, community content, notification settings, and signed-in support messages.

Public government records are not personal account data. They remain available even when a Civixly account is deleted.

Retention rules

These are maximum live-system retention targets. A scheduled cleanup enforces the time-based rules each day.

Street address used for district lookup

Not retained

The address is used transiently to resolve representation and then discarded. Civixly keeps only a coarse locality, U.S. House district, state House district, state Senate district, and the matching federal and state seat assignments.

Profile, civic assignments, follows, ratings, comments, and posts

Until you remove them or delete your account

Deleting the account removes the linked live account records. Community content you individually mark deleted may remain restricted for up to 30 days so an open safety report can be reviewed.

Read or dismissed notifications and digest delivery logs

Up to 180 days

These records help the product show delivery state and diagnose recent notification problems; they are not kept as a permanent activity history.

General feedback and support messages

Up to 365 days

A message linked to an account is removed sooner if that account is deleted.

Security reports and resolved moderation records

Up to 730 days

The longer window supports recurrence review, abuse prevention, and a limited audit trail. Open content reports are retained until reviewed. Deleted account identifiers are removed from the retained moderation trail.

Restricted encrypted backups may retain deleted information temporarily until the hosting provider's normal backup rotation completes. They are not used to recreate an individual deleted account.
