SF 53Session 2026HouseBecame law

Keeping amateurism in high school athletics.

This bill establishes amateur status requirements for students participating in Wyoming high school sports or activities sanctioned by the Wyoming High School Activities Association. The bill specifies conditions under which a student forfeits amateur status, including accepting monetary compensation, receiving awards exceeding approved value or signing professional contracts. Provides exceptions that do not result in forfeiture of amateur status, including receiving necessary expenses, participating in certain fundraising activities or accepting scholarships. Provides that violations of amateur status requirements result in ineligibility to participate in the concerned sport or activity.
